Evans Scholarships & Western Golf Association
Founded in 1899, the Western Golf Association conducts championships for professional and amateur golfers, promotes the use of caddies, and oversees the Evans Scholars Foundation, which awards college scholarships to caddies with limited financial means. The WGA is a driving force in the game, a respected charitable cause for thousands of supporters, and a distinguished leader in the nation’s golf community.
The Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship is a full tuition and housing college scholarship for golf caddies that is renewable for up to four years. Each year, more than 800 deserving caddies across the country attend college on a four-year scholarship from the Evans Scholars Foundation. Selected applicants must have a strong caddie record, excellent grades, outstanding character and demonstrated financial need.
Northland Country Club has seen many caddies earn the Evans Scholarship over the years. We strongly encourage all of our caddies to pursue this Scholarship and provide assistance to those who may qualify.
Northland Country Club has had 46 caddie alumni earn the scholarship and complete their degree. Here are the caddies that are currently involved in the program:
Jacob Johnson – University of Minnesota 2023 (Marketing)
Danielle Likar – University of Minnesota 2023 (Sociology of Law, Criminology)
Steven Kragseth – University of Minnesota 2024 (Business Administration)
Molly Schottenbauer – University of Minnesota 2024 (Marine Biology)
Luke Schottenbauer – University of Minnesota 2027
All of the Northland Country Club Members and Staff are very proud of all the Evans Scholars. We acknowledge all the hard work that each have put into their futures. Best of luck to all of you!
Northland Country Club is also proud of the members who have donated to the Evans Scholarship Foundation.
Join thousands of donors nationwide in support of golf’s number one charity, the Evans Scholars Foundation, by becoming a Par Club member. Founded in 1950 by WGA President Jerry Bowes, the Par Club program has grown to more than 40,000 donors annually and is the primary source of funding for Evans Scholarships. A donation to the Evans Scholarship Foundation is a great way to give back to all our great caddies at the club and support them.
